Indonesia Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH), which acts under the Ministry of Religion, has issued Decree of Head of BPJPH Regulation Number 141 of 2021 concerning Determination of Service Rates for BPJPH Public Service Agency and BPJPH Regulation Number 1 of 2021 concerning Payment Procedure for Services of BPJPH Public Service Agency. The issuance of this regulation is related to the previous regulation issued by the Ministry of Finance No. 57/PMK.05/2021 concerning Tariffs for the Public Service Halal Products Certification Agency at the Ministry of Religion (more on this can be read here).

 

Effective since 1st December 2021, the following are the fixed service rates set by BPJPH for large and overseas companies that wish to apply for Halal certificates in Indonesia.

The procedure of payment for the services according to BPJPH Regulation Number 1 of 2021 are as follows:

  • • The Halal Product Assurance Agency (BPJPH) issues bills of payment.
  • • Business actors have 10 working days after the bill of payment is issued to transfer the amount to BPJPH’s bank account. If after 10 working days and the payment hasn’t been made, BPJPH has the right to cancel the application.
  • • After payment, the receipt of payment shall be the assignment basis for the Halal investigator to check whether the product is halal or not. If the product is proven not halal, the paid amount won’t be returned.
  • • If the application for halal certification can’t be continued due to the negligence of the business actors, the paid amount won’t be returned.
  • • The referred form of negligence by business actors is:

a. Business actors do not fulfill the compliance documents until a certain time limit,

b. Business actors do not continue through the stages of the halal certification process in accordance with the provisions.
